WATSON ‘UNHAPPY’ WHEN PROPOSED PACKAGE LEAKED
Negotiations between Watson and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) fizzled out after both sides initially agreed on the terms of the deal.
The PCB initiated talks with Watson as the Australian was offered the position of Pakistan coach.
However, Watson was disappointed that the terms of the PCB package offered to him were leaked to Pakistan media.
“Watson had initially shown interest and kept certain financial and other conditions to accept the offer,” a source privy to the negotiations said.
WATSON CITED IPL COMMITMENT TO REJECT PCB OFFER
Watson made a turnaround to decline the PCB’s offer, citing his commitments as Indian Premier League commentator.
Multiple reports said Watson was offered a USS2-million contract by the PCB for the Pakistan coach post.
With Watson out, the PCB is looking at an interim arrangement to supervise the national team training camp.
“A team of local coaches” will be considered to manage the camp set in Kakul from March 25 to April 8, the source said.
