BCCI READY FOR INDIA’S T20 WORLD CUP TEAM REVEAL
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is ready for India’s T20 World Cup reveal.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has urged the BCCI to announce the lineup before the May 1 cut-off date.
Current analyst Ajit Agarkar and his colleagues see “straightforward choices” for the India T20 team.
“There would not be any experimentation or left-field choices,” a BCCI source told Press Trust of India.
“All those who have played for India and have done well consistently in T20 internationals and the IPL (Indian Premier League) will be rewarded,” the source added.
CLOSE CALL FOR WICKETKEEPER SPOT SEEN
A close call is seen in the race for the first wicketkeeper spot.
Shubman Gill and Yashavi Jaiswall may battle for the spot although both may still make it, the source said.
Should the two crack the roster, either Rinku Singh of the Kolkata Knight Riders or Shivam Dube of the Chennai Super Kings will get the nod.
The second wicketkeeper’s slot will be narrowed down to three choices.
Sanju Samson will be challenged by Jitesh Sharma, KL Rahul, and Ishan Kishan for the position, the source said.
PANDYA, KOHLI CHOICES ‘A FORMALITY,’ SAYS SOURCE
Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli may raise some fitness questions, but both are expected to make it, the source said.
Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja are also likely to fill out the 15-man roster, reports said.
Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav also have strong chances to join India’s T20 World Cup team.
The reserve spinner’s spot may come down among left-arm spinner Axar Patel, possible T20 World Cup first-timer Yuzvendra Chahal, or Lucknow Super Giants’ Ravi Bishnoi.
