ALCARAZ TO FACE SINNER IN FRENCH OPEN SEMIS AFTER BEATING TSITSIPAS

Third-seeded Alcaraz will face Sinner in the semifinals in Roland Garros.

The Spaniard pulled off a 6-3, 7-6(3), 6-4 victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas in their quarterfinals matchup.

Furthermore, the world No.3 stopped a mid-match comeback by Tsitsipas to extend to 6-0 his head-to-head winning record over his opponent.

“It was a very good match. I played great,” Alcaraz said.

“I controlled my emotions and I was really calm in the moments I had to be,” he added.

Alcaraz thus earned a semifinal matchup against Sinner.

The Italian is coming off a 6-2, 6-4, 7-6(3) win over Grigor Dimitrov in another quarterfinals faceoff.

DJOKOVIC WITHDRAWS FROM ROLAND GARROS DUE TO KNEE INJURY

Serbian superstar Djokovic, meanwhile, was forced to withdraw from playing at Roland Garros due to a right knee injury he sustained in his last match.

The Serbian superstar is coming off two marathon matches, including his win over Francisco Cerundolo where he sustained the injury.

“I wish the best of luck to the players competing this week,” Djokovic said.

Djokovic was supposed to face Casper Ruud in the quarterfinals.

The Serbian’s withdrawal means Sinner looms to be the new world No.1 after the French Open, which will also crown a new champion this year.

SWIATEK, GAUFF HURDLE FOES TO FACE OFF IN SEMIFINALS

Defending champion Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff are crossing paths in a mouth-watering semifinal.

Swiatek dominated Wimbledon champion Marketa Vodrousova, 6-0, 6-2, while Gauff rallied to oust Ons Jabeur 4-6, 6-02, 6-3.

The world No.1 is looking forward for another tough matchup against Gauff.

“It’s good to just keep going and not think about this match as something huge – just another match – to not put too much on your shoulders,” Swiatek said.

“But I guess Coco is not easy. She really likes playing on clay, especially here. I’ll just focus on myself and I’ll prepare tactically and we’ll see” she added.

Swiatek currently leads, 10-1, in her head-to-head matchup against Gauff.
