DJOKOVIC’S WIMBLEDON STINT UNCERTAIN DESPITE CONFIRMED TRIP TO ENGLAND
Furthermore, Serbian superstar Djokovic’s Wimbledon stint remains uncertain.
This came despite Djokovic’s confirmed trip to England, where he is scheduled to arrive on Monday.
The world No.2 has yet to decide if he can compete at the All-England club despite coming off knee surgery.
The 37-year-old Serbian withdrew from the French Open after his fourth-round win over Francisco Cerundolo.
Moreover, Djokovic underwent surgery in Paris 17 days ago after he tore the medial meniscus in his right knee.
Interestingly, the Serbian posted a video of him using an exercise bike and leg weight machine in the gym on social media on Thursday.
“We keep building day by day,” he said on Instagram.
MURRAY RULED OUT OF WIMBLEDON AFTER SPINAL CYST OPERATION
Meanwhile, Murray remained undecided Wimbledon after he underwent an operation on a spinal cyst on Saturday.
Furthermore, Murray has yet to make any decision regarding his participation at the All-England Club, Britain’s Davis Cup captain Leon Smith said.
Moreover, the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) earlier announced that the 37-year-old will miss the grass-court tournament due to the surgery.
However, the ATP has since deleted its post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
“He (Murray) obviously went through a procedure yesterday (Sunday) and you have to wait and see now,” Smith told the BBC.
“My understanding is no decision has been made and let’s hope for the best for Andy,” he added.
TOMLJANOVIC GETS LAST WOMEN’S SINGLES WILDCARD SLOT AT WIMBLEDON
On the other hand, Ajla Tomljanovic was awarded the final women’s singles main draw wildcard at Wimbledon.
Furthermore, the Birmingham runner-up had an impressive run at Birmingham, where she defeated four top-60 opponents to reach the final.
Tomljanovic lost to Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan ,6-1, 7-6(8) in the final.
“I’m very happy that I got to the final considering how my past 18 months have looked,” the world No.190 said.
“I think there’s a lot that I can still improve on but the great thing is that this whole week I’ve managed to find ways to wins even when my back was against the wall,” she added.
Tomljanovic has a protective ranking of world No.33, which she can save due to her wildcard slot.
“I’m feeling good about Wimbledon. I have some time (now) to take care of my body, get in good shape, and feel fresh,” she added.
Wimbledon starts on July 1.
