ALCARAZ STAYS AT NO.3 DESPITE SECOND WIMBLEDON TITLE, WIN OVER DJOKOVIC
Spain’s Alcaraz stays at No.3 despite claiming his second Wimbledon title with a win over Novak Djokovic on Sunday.
Alcaraz completed a 6-3, 6-2, 7-6(4) victory over seven-time champion Djokovic at the All England Club.
Furthermore, it was Alcaraz’s fourth major and second title this year after winning the French Open final five weeks ago.
Jannik Sinner of Italy stayed at No.1 despite losing in the quarterfinals, while Djokovic remained at No.2.
Moreover, Alexander Zverez kept the No.4 position followed by Daniil Medvedev at No.5.
However, Alex de Minaur was the biggest mover from No.9 to No.6 despite his withdrawal from a quarterfinals matchup with Djokovic at Wimbledon.
KREJCIKOVA IN TOP 10 AFTER WINNING WIMBLEDON WOMEN’S TITLE OVER PAOLINI
Moreover, Krejcikova is back in the top 10 after winning the Wimbledon women’s title over Jasmine Paolini on Saturday.
Krejcikova’s 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Paolini got her to jump 22 places from No.32.
Furthermore, the 28-year-old Czechia player was last seen in the top 10 in the week of January.
Krejcikova peaked at No.2 in women’s singles and No.1 in doubles.
On the other hand, Paolini was rewarded with her runner-up finish by moving from No.7 to No.5.
Incidentally, she was also the first woman after Serena Williams to reach the French Open and Wimbledon finals in the same year.
Paolini lost to Iga Swiatek in Roland Garros in the final.
Swiatek remained at No.1, followed by Coco Gauff at No.2, and Aryna Sabalenka at No.3.
Incidentally, Elena Rybakina stayed at No.4 but Marketa Vondrousova dropped from No.6 to No.18.
Vondrousova won the Wimbledon title last year but was ousted in the first round this time.
