Liverpool still holds the top spot
The Egypt international unleashed his trademark “Mo Salah special” to lead the Reds to a 2-1 comeback victory at Anfield.
The win put Arne Slot’s side two points clear of reigning champions Manchester City.
Brighton took control of the first half after Turkey international Ferdi Kadioglu hit a powerful goal in the 14th minute.
The Merseyside club experienced a glimmer of hope when Cody Gakpo’s 69th-minute cross went straight into the net.
Three minutes later, Salah curled a brilliant strike from the right side of the penalty.
Salah posts cryptic tweet regaring Liverpool future
The 32-year-old Salah is one of several Liverpool stars who could leave for free at the end of the season.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk also have contracts expiring next June.
“Top of the table is where this club belongs. Nothing less,” Salah wrote on Sunday.
“All teams win matches but there’s only one champion in the end. That’s what we want. Thank you for your support last night.
“No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like.”
Salah, who joined Liverpool in 2017 from AS Roma, told Sky Sports at the start of the season that this could be his final year at Anfield.
The forward now has 164 goals in 273 appearances for the club.
