Neymar aims for Santos return over MLS

eports suggest that Santos is in discussions with Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal over a six-month loan deal for Neymar.

According to Diario do Peixe, weeks of negotiations involving Santos President Marcelo Teixeira, CEO Pedro Martins, and Neymar’s father have reportedly led to an agreement to bring the star back to the Brazilian side.

Sources indicate that wages would not be an obstacle, as Al-Hilal is expected to continue covering part of Neymar’s salary.

Neymar’s contract at Al-Hilal set to expire in June.

The proposed loan would allow Neymar to return to Brazilian football temporarily and maintain his fitness during this transitional phase.

Santos are also celebrating their return to the Brazilian Serie A after earning promotion from the second division, adding further significance to Neymar’s potential comeback.

Meanwhile, ESPN previously reported that Neymar had been in talks with MLS teams, including the Chicago Fire.

However, it seems the Brazil international is eager to reunite with his former club, Santos.

Back to where he came from

Neymar made 225 appearances for Santos, scoring 136 goals and providing 64 assists.

He left Santos in 2013, making the move to Europe with Barcelona.

After a decade in Europe with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, he joined Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

However, Neymar has been plagued by numerous injuries.

The 32-year-old is currently recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in November, which occurred during his second game back after a year-long absence due to an ACL and meniscus tear in his left knee.

Al-Hilal coach Jorge Jesus recently remarked that Neymar “can no longer play at the level we are used to.”

Additionally, the forward is not registered to play in the Saudi Pro League for the second half of the season.

After spending 13 years away from Brazilian football, Neymar is now closer to returning to the club where his legendary career began.
