ALCARAZ REACHES ROTTERDAM OPEN LAST 8 AFTER GETTING ADVISE FROM ESCUDE

Alcaraz reached the Rotterdam Open last eight after beating Andrea Vavassori, 6-2, 6-1.

Furthermore, the Spanish world No.3 stepped up his game after he barely got past Botic van Zandschulp, 7-6(3) 3-6 6-1, in the previous round on Tuesday.

Moreover, Alcaraz needed just over an hour to sweep past his Italian opponent to earn a shot at a semifinals berth.

It’s uncertain if the Spaniard read or heard the advise of French tennis federation technical director Nicolas Escude.

The retired former French tennis player told Eurosport France that Alcaraz needs “a lot of things” to change if he wants to win in Rotterdam.

“Carlos will have to correct a lot of things if he wants to go far in this tournament and he won’t have much time because he will quickly have high-level opponents,” Escude said.

“On a lot of sequences, he played while being static while he is very effective when he is moving. So there are still adjustments to be made, that’s obvious,” he added.

LATEST WIN BOOSTS SPANIARD’S BID FOR FIRST INDOOR TITLE, FIRST TROPHY IN 2025

The latest win boosts Alcaraz’s bid to win his first indoor title, as well as his first trophy for 2025.

Moreover, the Spaniard did not refer Escude regarding a change in his game plan.

Furthermore, Alcaraz is aware that he needs to get better after being dragged into three sets in the first round.

“Every time that I leave the court, I’m always thinking how I can be better. That’s what happened after the first round,” Alcaraz was quoted by the ATP Tour website as saying.

“I just tried to be focused on the things that I had to improve from the first round,” he added.

FELLOW SPANIARD MARTINEZ AWAITS CARLOS IN QUARTERFINALS

Fellow Spaniard Pedro Martinez awaits Alcaraz in the quarterfinals.

Furthermore, Martinez advanced after he pulled off a 6-4, 6-1 upset over fifth seed Holger Rune.

Moreover, Alex De Minaur matched Alcaraz’s feat after posting a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Jacub Mensik.

The Australian will next take on lucky loser Daniel Altmaier, who ousted No.19 Arthur Fils, 4-6 3-6 7-5.

2021 champion Andrey Rublev reached the last eight in Rotterdam for a sixth time after his 7-6 (2) 7-6 (7) triumph over Fabian Marozsan.
