SHARMA CENTURY LIFTS INDIA OVER ENGLAND, SEALS THREE-MATCH ODI SERIES

The Sharma century lifted India, which practically sealed their three-match ODI (One-Day International) Test series against England.

Furthermore, the 37-year-old top order batter scored 119 off 90 balls through 12 fours and seven sixes at the Barabati Stadium.

Moreover, Sharma’s 32nd ODI century helped him overtake Rahul Dravid among India batters with the most international tons.

He would later admit “breaking down” his approach his batting style before the match in Cuttak .

Additionally, Sharma also topped Chris Gayle among the list of batters with the most sixes in ODI cricket.

The second ODI was “an important game,” Sharma said, with the series on the line.

Moreover, the Maharashtra native described breaking down the match to determine how much he would bat.

Furthermore, he “really enjoyed” to score “some runs” for India and help the team win.

“(ODIs are) longer than T20s (Twenty20s) and shorter than Tests and I wanted to break it down,” Sharma said.

“I wanted to bat as deep as possible and that was my focus,” he added.

ENGLAND NEEDS BATTERS TO ‘CATCH FIRE’ AND REACH 350, SAYS BUTTLER

England will need batters to “catch fire,” according to team captain Jos Buttler, to enable the team to reach 350.

Furthermore, the skipper only saw Joe Rott and Ben Duckett smashing 69 and 65, respectively as England had 304 in 49.4 overs.

Moreover, they lost their last seven wickets for 85 runs after heading to make 330 at one instance.

” I thought we did a lot of things well, and we got into some nice positions with the bat, but we need a few of us to catch fire and push us to 350,” Buttler said.

“We tried to get to 330-350, maybe that would have been defendable. Just keep taking steps in the right direction though results are not there but we need to keep going,” he added.
