BUMRAH REHAB CONTINUES AT NCA; REHAB FOLLOWS 5-WEEK OFF-LOADING PERIOD
The Bumrah rehab continues at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), where he underwent a five-week off-loading period.
Furthermore, the bowler’s off-loading involves only complete rest and no gym work.
Moreover, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), through its medical staff, is racing before the Tuesday deadline for India’s submission of its lineup.
The BCCI needs to decide if it includes Bumrah in its lineup sent to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for Champions Trophy 2025.
Bumrah, ESPNcricinfo reported, recently had his back scanned at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
The board included the 31-year-old bowler in India’s 18-man provisional lineup for Champions Trophy 2025 on January 18.
BCCI OFFICIAL CONFIRMS MEDICAL TEAM IN BENGALURU FOR JASPRIT’S REHAB
A BCCI official told Press Trust of India that a medical team is in Bengaluru for Bumrah’s rehabilitation.
Moreover, the NCA usually allots one strengtening and conditioning coach, a physiologist for injury monitoring, and a bowling or batting coach to monitor an injured player’s skills.
Stregnth and conditioning (S&C) coach Rajnikanth Sivagnanam and physio Thulasi Ram Yuvraj are tasked to monitor Bumrah’s rehab.
“Obviously, the national team S&C coach Soham Desai and physio Kamlesh Jain are also kepy in the loop,” a senior BCCI official told PTI.
Additionally, head of Sports Science Dr Nitin Patel is also in Bengaluru for Bumrah’s rehab.
RANA ON STANDBY AS POSSIBLE REPLACEMENT BUT BCCI TO MAKE LAST-MINUTE DECISION
Harsit Rana remains on standby as Bumrah’s possible replacement.
Furthermore, the BCCI is inclined to make a last-minute decision in its hope to bring the veteran bowler to Dubai for Champions Trophy 2025.
Moreover, India opens its Dubai campaign against Bangladesh on February 20.
Bumrah has not played since Australia’s second innings of the Sydney Test early last month.
