SHARMA ADDRESSES RETIREMENT RUMORS AFTER LEADING INDIA OVER NEW ZEALAND

Sharma addresses retirement rumors after he led Indias to a four-wicket win over New Zealand in Dubai.

Furthermore, the 37-year-old skipper came through with an efficient 83-ball 76 to give India an impressive head start.

Moreover, Sharma, who also earned Player of the final honors, assured fans that he is not leaving the game real soon, at least in the ODI (One-Day International) format just yet.

“I am not going to retire from this format. Just to make sure no rumors are spread moving forward,” he told reporters moments after the match.

“There is a lot of hunger even in guys who have played a lot of cricket and it rubs down on even the younger players,” he added.

Sharma shared the spotlight with several of his teammates in a collective effort for India against the Black Caps.

Furthermore, Ravindra Jadeja and Momammed Shami had one wicket each to add to the South Asia nation’s attack.

Meanwhile, Sharma’s first-ever half-century in an ICC (International Cricket Council) event definitely rubbed off on his teammates.

“We have five to six players who are real stalwarts. It makes the job easier for all of us,” he said.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli also acknowledged rumors of his future after the team’s third Champions Tropht title.

Furthermore, the 36-year-old superstar did not direclty announced his plans, but assured that Team “is in a better place.”

He cited consistent performances from Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul as factors that assure the team’s future is in good hands.

“It’s been amazing, we wanted to bounce back after a tough Australian tour, and wanted to win a big tournament, so to win the Champions Trophy is amazing,” Kohli said.

“I feel we’ve a squad that’s ready to take on the world for the next eight years. Shubman has been outstanding, Shreyas has played some top knocks, (and) KL (Rahul) has finished games,” he added.
