“He (Norrie) was solid today, and he didn’t give me anything. Defending well, serving well, returning well and very sharp,” Djokovic said.

“I feel good. Every day, I have more expectations about my game, [and with] 12 sets played, 12 sets won, everything is solid and positive,” he added.

Alexander Zverev is next for Djokovic after the German watched his opponent, Tallon Griekspoor, retire with an abdominal strain in the second set.

Meanwhile, Zverev is bracing for another long-drawn match against Djokovic.

GAUFF WINS BUT PEGULA LOSES TO FRENCH BET BOISSON

Gauff advanced to the women’s singles quarterfinals for the fifth-straight time after her 6-0, 7-5 triumph over Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Furthermore, the American world No.2 overcame a tough stand from the Russian in the second set but still managed to pull off the straight-sets victory.

Moreover, third-seeded Pegula was not as lucky as she fell, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, to French world No.361 Lois Boisson.

“I don’t know what to say, but thank you. Playing on this court in such a great atmosphere, it was incredible,” the Frenchwoman said.

“I knew I could do it but I knew she was super strong, but after a while, I realized it was a proper contest,” she added.

Other matches saw American No7 seed Madison Keys beat compatriot Hailey Baptiste, 6-3, 7-5, while Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva held off Australian No.17 seed Daria Kasatkina. 6-3, 7-5.
