SWIATEK, SABALENKA ARRANGE SEMIS MATCHUP AFTER TAKING OUT FOES

Swiatek and Sabalenka arranged a juicy semifinals matchup after they took out their opponents in the last eight.

Furthermore, Swiatek, the Polish defending champion, ousted Elna Svitolina, 6-1,7-5, to reach the semis with her 26th straight win at Roland Garros.

Moreover, Sabalenka followed suit after she eliminated 2024 Chinese Olympic gold medallist Zheng Qinwen, 7-6(3), 6-3.

This early, Swiatek is looking forward to her next match against Sabalenka, whom she beat in five of six matches on clay.

“The Madrid final against her is one of the best and most exciting finals that I have played,” the Polish world No.5 said.
“It is always a challenge against Aryna,” she added.

SABALENKA HALTS ZHENG’S 10-MATCH WIN STREAK TO EARN SWIATEK MATCHUP

Sabalenka halts Zheng Qinwen’s 10-match winning streak in Paris, which included the 2024 Paris gold medallist beating the Belarussian in the Rome last eight last month.

Moreover, the 27-year-old world No.1 is in the last four in Roland Garros for the second time.

Furthermore, she thus advanced in her 11th grand slam semifinal overall, and second in Paris after her three-set loss to Czech Karolina Muchova in 2023.

“I was actually glad I lost that match (vs Zheng in Rome), because I needed a little break before Roland-Garros. Today, I was just more fresh,” Sabalenka said.

“I think we’re all here for one reason. Everyone wants that beautiful trophy. I’m glad I have another opportunity, another semifinal to do better than last time,” she added.

ALCARAZ ADVANCES TO LAST FOUR AFTER TAKING OUT INJURED PAUL

Alcaraz advanced at Roland Garros’ last four after he beat an injured Tommy Paul with a 6-0, 6-1, 6-4 victory.

Furthermore, the 21-year-old Spanish world No.2 took advantage of his American No.12 seed opponent’s right thigh injury to advance.

Moreover, it was Alcaraz’s third-straight semifinals appearance at Roland Garros.

“Today was one of those days that you’re feeling great. You feel like every shot was going to be in, every shot was going to be a winner,” Alcaraz said.

“You play with a lot of confidence. No fear of anything,” he added.

Lorenzo Musetti awaits Alcaraz in the last four after the Italian No.8 seed ousted No.15 Frances Tiafoe, 6-2,4-6, 7-5, 6-2.
