EALA REACHES EASTBOURNE LAST 4 AFTER TURNING BACK YASTREMSKA, GETS CHANCE TO FINAL

Eala reaches the Eastbourne last four to earn a shot of advancing in a WTA tournament final for the first time.

Furthermore, the 20-year-old world No.74 from the Philippines broke three times in the opening set to take the early lead.

Moreover, she sustained her strong form in the second set to close out her world No.42 opponent, who was coming off a finals stint at the Nottingham Open last weekend.

However, Yastremska lost to McCartney Kessler in the Nottingham final.

Eala thus matched her miracle run at the Miami Open earlier this year, where she beat Jelena Ostapenko, Madison Keys, and Iga Swiatek.

“I’m very sorry to have to withdraw from my quarter-final today in Eastbourne as I’m having some soreness in my right thigh,” Krejcikova said.

“I wish the tournament team the best for the final few days and I look forward to returning to see all the wonderful fans here next year,” she added.
