Alexandra Eala rises to No.56 in the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings amid her finals loss at the Lexus Eastbourne Open.

Furthermore, the 20-year-old from the Philippines made a last mark despite falling short in 4-6, 6-1, 6-7(10) to Maya Joint in Sunday’s final.

EALA RISES TO NO.56 DESPITE LOSS TO JOINT IN THRILLING EASTBOURNE FINAL

Eala rises to No.56 despite losing to Australia’s Joint in the Eastbourne final that went the full route. 

Furthermore, the Filipina made a leap from 18 spots from her previous No.74 ranking in WTA’s latest rankings out on Monday

Moreover, she is rewarded by being part of the WTA’s top 60 after her string of wins over Jelena Ostapenko, Lucia Bronzetti, and Dayana Yastremska on the way to the final.

“Thank you everyone for the love. This has to be one of the toughest losses of my early career, but I firmly believe that it’s these moments that make you stronger and shape your character,” Eala said.

“It’s my first WTA final. It’s a big deal for me and for my country because it’s historic,” she added.

NADAL, RAFA ACADEMY, GAUFF LAUD EALA’S EASTNOURNE RUN

Retired tennis great Rafael Nadal, his tennis academy, and American Coco Gauff lauded Eala’s Eastbourne run on social media. 

Moreover, Nadal described the Filipina’s achievement as “the first of many finals” on X (formerly Twitter).

Furthermore, the Rafael Nadal Academy praised Eala’s first WTA final at an “amazing tournament.

Meanwhile, Gauff, Eala’s doubles partner and WTA singles world No.2, also made sure she won’t forget the Filipina’s momentous achievement.

“Congratulations (heart emoji),” Gauff wrote on X.

KREJCIKOVA ‘LOOKING FORWARD’ TO FACE EALA IN WIMBLEDON OPENER

Barbora Krejcikova is “looking forward” to face Eala in their Wimbledon opener on Tuesday.

Furthermore, the defending All-England women’s champion drew the 20-year-old, whom she described as  “one of the players of the new generation I would say.” 

Moreover, the 29-year-old Cechia player admitted not knowing much about Eala but admitting watching some of her matches in the past. 

“I saw some matches. I know that she was doing quite well at the first half of the year so I’m looking forward,” Krejcikova said.“It’s going to be a great, great matchup and I’m looking forward to playing against her and to see what the young generation is,” she added.
