ALCARAZ DUMPS TARVET AFTER GETTING TESTED BY FOGNINI IN OPENING ROUND
Alcaraz dumps Tarvet, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4, a match after he was tested in the opening round by Fabio Fognini.
Furthermore, the 22-year-old Spanish world No.3 held off Fognini in a long five setter that lasted four-and-a-half hours.
Moreover, the reigning French Open champion still had kind words about his opponent, a University of San Diego world No.733.
“I just love his (Tarvet) game, to be honest,” Alcaraz said.
“I knew at the beginning that I had to be really focused and try to play my best tennis,” he added.
TIAFOE GETS BOOT FROM NORRIE; FRITZ ADVANCES
Frances Tiafoe, unlike Alcaraz, was not as lucky, as he fell to British hope Cameron Norrie, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-5.
Moreover, the American No.12 seed continued his bad luck at the All England Club, which he has not reached past the quarterfinals the past four years.
Furthermore, Tiafoe’s compatriot Taylor Fritz pulled off a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Gabriel Diallo
in a match that was suspended Monday night and completed Wednesday.
“That’s an incredibly hard match. The fourth set that I lost, I really don’t think there’s much I did wrong at all,” the No.5 seeded American said.
“Tomorrow is going to be a very, very light hit, I think I’ve played plenty of tennis,” he added.

SABALENKA LONE TOP 5 SEED LEFT AFTER PAOLINI OUSTED
Sabalenka became the lone top five seed left in the women’s singles after she beat Marie Bouzkova, 7-6(4), 6-4.
Furthermore, the 26-year-old Belarussian world No.2 saved two points from dropping the opening set and was never threatened afterwards.
Moreover, she is aware of the downfall of No.2 Coco Gauff, No.3 Jessica Pegula, No.5 Qinwen Zheng and No.4 Jasmine Paolini.
Paolini absorbed a 6-4, 4-6 4-6 loss to Kamilla Rakhimova in a second-round match.
“Of course you’re going to know the overall picture,” Sabalenka said.
“I hope it’s no upsets anymore in this tournament, if you know what I mean,” she added.
