ALCARAZ HOLDS OFF CERUNDOLO FOR FIRST MONTE CARLO VICTORY, AVOIDS UPSET AXE
Alcaraz holds off Cerundolo, 3-6, 6-0, 6-1, to post his first-ever victory in Monte Carlo.
Furthermore, the 21-year-old Spanish world No.3 also avoided the early upset axe that saw the exits of No.2 Alexander Zverev and No.5 Novak Djokovic.
Moreover, Alcaraz just lose one game to Cerundolo but needed all of 98 minutes to put him away and advance.
“I didn’t start well, I made a lot of mistakes, let him play inside the court and dominate the points,” the Spaniard said.
“After the first set I had to do something else. I had to play more aggressively. I had to play my tennis,” he added.
DJOKOVIC, ZVEREV FALL
Djokovic and Zverev fell to their respective opponents, denying fans of a deep run at Monte Carlo.
Moreover, Djokovic absorbed a 6-3, 6-4 defeat to Alejandro Tabilo.
Furthermore, the 37-year-old world No.5 absorbed his second-straight loss to the same player he lost at the Italian Open last year.
Zverev absorbed a 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 loss to Matteo Berrettini in their second-round match.
“I expected myself at least to have put in a decent performance. Not like this, it was horrible,” Djokovic said.

DRAPER CRUISES PAST GIRON TO ADVANCE
Jack Draper, meanwhile, joined Alcaraz into the next round with relative ease.
Furthermore, the 23-year-old British world No.6 quickly disposed Marcos Giron, 6-1, 6-1.
Moreover, Draper’s win ensured he will continue his bid to claim his second ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) title this season.
The Briton claimed the Indian Wells men’s title on March 16.
A place in the last eight awaits Draper should he get past either Alejandro Davidovich or Tomas Martin Etcheverry for his next match.
