ALCARAZ REACHES PARIS MASTERS THIRD ROUND AFTER BEATING JARRY
Alcaraz reaches the 2024 Rolex Paris Masters third round after beating Jarry, 7-5, 6-1.
Furthermore, the world No.2 overcame Jarry’s strong backhand to barely take the opening set before cruising through.
Moreover, Alcaraz described his Chilean opponent as “dangerous” and was “super happy” to win their match.
“It was a little bit complicated; really happy to get through the first set. I have to get used to the speed of the court,” the Spaniard said.
“He (Jarry) is a really dangerous player on these courts. I’m super happy to win here,” he added.
SINNER PULLS OUT DUE TO ILLNESS
Moreover, Sinner pulled out of the tournament due to a virus.
Furthermore, the Italian world No.1 told organizers of his decision not to play this week.
“I’m having a virus at the moment, which is going to pass the next two, three days,” Sinner said.
“So body-wise, I’m not ready to compete,” he added.
Additionally, the Italian is guaranteed to finish as No.1 at the end of the year.
TSITSIPAS CONTINUES PARIS RUN; RUBLEV, RUDD OUSTED
Furthermore, Stefanos Tsitsipas continued his Paris run by defeating Alejandro Tabilo, 6-3, 6-4.
Moreover, the Greek No.10 seed followed up his opening match after he defeated Roberto Carballes Baena, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, on Monday.
However, Andrey Rublev was not as lucky. The No.6 seed fell to Francisco Cerundolo, 7-6(6), 7-6(5).
The loss was a big blow to Rublev, who holds the eighth and final qualifying place in the race for the ATP Finals.
Meanwhile, No.7 seed Casper Ruud joined Rublev on the sidelines after yielding a 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-4, to unseeded Australian Jordan Thompson.
