ALCARAZ SURVIVES BEES TO OUST ZVEREV
Alcaraz defeated Alexander Zverev, 6-3, 6-3, but not after the world No.2 overcame a swarm of bees that delayed the outcome.
The match was delayed for an hour and 48 minutes with Alcaraz serving tied at 1-1.
The bees surround the overhead camera that traverses the court while a bee vacuumer was summoned with a spray bottle to clean them off.
SINNER, MEDVEDEV ALSO MAKE LAST FOUR
Alcaraz will next face Sinner, who eliminated Jiri Lecheka, 6-3, 6-1.
The win extended Sinner’s winning streak to 16 this year, including his impressive run to win the Australian Open title in January.
World No.4 Daniil Medvedev ousted Holger Rune, 7-5,6-4, to play in the other semifinal against Tommy Paul.
Paul rallied to beat No.9 seed Casper Ruud, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3, for his second career Masters 1000 semifinal.
