ALCARAZ TOPS RUBLEV TO REACH QUARTERFINALS, POSTS 75TH WIN IN 87 MAJOR MATCHES
Alcaraz tops Rublev, 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4, to reach the quarterfinals at the All England Club and post his 75th win in 87 Grand Slam matches.
The 22-year-old Spanish world No. 2 also matched Björn Borg and John McEnroe as the fastest men in the Open Era to reach 75 Grand Slam victories.
Moreover, the reigning French Open champion extended his overall winning streak to 22 matches, including 18 consecutive wins on grass.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re one set to love down. Tennis is a sport that can change with just one point,” Alcaraz said.
“One point can completely change the match and turn everything around,” he added.
RADUCANU WATCHES CARLOS FROM THE STANDS; NORRIE IRRITATED BY ‘DATING’ QUESTION
Emma Raducanu watched Alcaraz from the stands, as the pair continued to spark fan speculation despite clarifying they remain just friends.
The British No. 1 in women’s singles was joined by her coach, Mark Petchey, as they watched Alcaraz defeat Rublev.
Next up for Alcaraz is fellow Briton Cameron Norrie, with a place in the semifinals on the line.
Norrie appeared visibly irritated when a tabloid reporter asked whether he was the one dating Raducanu.
“Sorry?” he said, asking the reporter to repeat the question.
“I’m not. No. You can ask her, though,” he added.

SABALENKA ALSO IN QUARTERS AFTER BEATING MERTENS, TO FACE SIEGEMUND NEXT
Sabalenka is also through to the quarterfinals after pulling off a 6-4, 7-6(4) win over Elise Mertens.
The 26-year-old Belarusian world No. 1 has now reached the last eight in 11 of the past 12 Grand Slam tournaments she’s competed in, missing only last year’s Wimbledon quarterfinals due to a shoulder injury.
Her next opponent is 37-year-old German Laura Siegemund, with a semifinal berth at stake.
Siegemund, who previously eliminated reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys, advanced by defeating lucky loser Solana Sierra 6-3, 6-2.
“I’m super happy with the performance. It was a battle,” said Sabalenka.
“With your support, guys, I think everything is possible,” she added, hinting at her ambitions of reaching the final.
