ARTETA VOWS DOWN-THE-WIRE ARSENAL STAND IN TITLE RACE

Arteta urged his players to remain focused and push City in a close race to the Premier League title after Arsenal pulled off a 3-2 win at Tottenham on Sunday.

It was Arteta’s 100th win in the Premier League.

“They give me the reason to believe that every single day. We are right on it,” Arteta said, even before City beat Nottingham Forest later that day.

“The motivation for what is ahead is beautiful. We are all expecting that they’re going to have a real go,” he added.

A Pierre-Emile Hojbjer own goal enabled Arsenal to race to a 3-0 lead after earlier goals from Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz.

The result enabled Arsenal to sit one point ahead of City at that time.

ARTETA URGES PLAYERS TO ‘GO AGAIN’ AGAINST BOURNEMOUTH

Arteta told his players to avoid getting carried away by their latest win but focus instead on their upcoming match against Bournemouth.

“Don’t get carried away with yourself. We want to be better. There are margins for improvement,” the Arsenal manager said.

“Go again against Bournemouth (on Saturday) because it’s going to be really tough,” he added.

It can be recalled that Arsenal led the title race last year at the beginning of April.

However, the Reds fell away, something Arteta wants to change this season.

SPURS PLAYERS CAN LEARN FROM ARGENTINA’SROMERO, SAYS POSTECOGLOU

Tottenham players can learn a thing or two from Argentina center-back Romero, particularly on maturity, after the loss, said Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou.

“He (Romero) was outstanding. He’s a World Cup winner and I’ve just got to get some of what’s in him into some of the others,” Postecoglou said.

“It’s about now over the course of time getting from where we are to where we want to get to.”

The Spurs boss later gave Arsenal credit for their performance, describing them as a team “that that does deal with the details well, and we don’t.”

Tottenham currently sits in fifth place, seven points behind fourth-place Aston Villa but with two matches remaining.
