British-born Panathinaikos and Greece defender George Baldock has tragically passed away after he was found dead in his Athens home.
He was only 31.

Baldock tragically passed away
Police discovered Baldock’s body on Wednesday in a swimming pool in the southern suburb of Glyfada.
The cause of death remains unknown.
Officers attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but were unable to revive him.
The authorities recorded the time of death as 10 p.m. local time (7 p.m. GMT).
Police spokeswoman Konstantina Dimoglidou stated that no initial evidence suggests the death was suspicious.
Dimoglidou also mentioned that the coroner, who examined the body, confirmed, “there is no evidence of a criminal act.”
Baldock’s family has confirmed his untimely passing.
“We can confirm that George has sadly passed away,” a reported family statement read. “As a family we are in shock at this terrible loss.”

Baldock, who was of Greek ancestry, joined Panathinaikos in May from Sheffield United.
He also played for lower league sides MK Dons and Oxford United.
The defender has 12 caps for Greece. with his international debut coming in February 2022.
Sheffield United were relegated from the Premier League.
“The defender left the club in the summer after seven years at Bramall Lane and was extremely popular with supporters, staff and teammates who pulled on a red and white shirt alongside him,” the club said in a statement.
“The sincere condolences of everyone associated with Sheffield United are extended to George’s family and friends.”
Both England and Greece observed a minute’s silence in memory of Baldock before their Nations League match.
“UEFA would like to send its condolences to the family of George Baldock, the Hellenic Football Federation (HFF) and Panathinaikos FC following the Greek international’s sudden and untimely death,” European football’s governing body said in a statement.
Baldock’s mother club also paid tribute to the late footballer.
“With deep sadness and pain, the national team and the Hellenic Football Federation say goodbye to George Baldock,” the Greek team said on Facebook.
“There are no words to describe the human pain caused by the news of the untimely loss of one of our young people. The moment calls for silence. Condolences to his family. Condolences from his second family. Goodbye.”
