MAGALHAES MAY STILL JOIN BRAZIL SQUAD IN COPA AMERICA 2024
The 26-year-old Magalhaes may still join Dorival’s Brazil lineup for Copa America 2024 after he showed progress in his recovery from a “mild” shoulder injury.
Magalhaes dislocated his shoulder while playing for Arsenal in a Premier League match against Everton.
While the Brazilian defender is doubtful for Brazil’s upcoming friendlies, there is still hope for Magalhaes to play for Dorival to play in Copa 2024.
Furthermore, Arsenal’s doctor and Head of Sports Medicine & Performance Zafar Iqbal assured Dorival and the Brazilian squad that Magalhaes’ injury was not severe.
Magalhaes made 50 appearances for Arsenal in its 2023-24 campaign.
DORIVAL EXPLAINS CASEMIRO ABSENCE FOR BRAZIL IN COPA
Dorival, meanwhile,m explained why star defensive midfielder Casemiro was left out of Brazil’s Copa lineup.
The Brazil manager said Casemiro, who plays for Manchester United, earned his and the Brazilian players’ respect.
“He (Casemiro) deserves every respect from us all. I explained what I thought about his moment, his team, and what I needed,” Dorival said.
“He knows very well what I think of him, and that’s the main thing,” he added.
The manager assured that he would “make contact with Casemiro calmly” in the next few days.

Dorizal also knows that top scorer Neymar is not playing for Brazil in Copa America 2024 as he recovers from a knee ligament injury.
Other notable absences for Brazil include Manchester United winger Antony and Wolves star Matheus Cunha.
Dorival will pin his hopes on 17-year-old wunderkind Endrick as Brazil seeks to regain the Copa America 2024 title.
“It’s important to have players of this caliber (Endrick) together. In the near future, God willing, we’ll also have the presence of Neymar,” the manager said.
Brazil will open its Copa America 2024 campaign against Costa Rica at the SoFi Stadium on June 25.
