DJOKOVIC ADVANCES AFTER DJERE RETIRES IN THIRD SET

The world No.2 led, 6-4, 6-4, 2-0, when his Serbian compatriot Djere was hampered by pain near his hip that started in the second set.
Moreover, Djere was visited by an athletic trainer in the set, which lasted 69 minutes.
Djokovic admitted struggling with his serve in the second set, as he expects tougher matches ahead.
“The matches are only going to get tougher from here. I know what, but I’m fine,” the 24-time Grand Slam champion said.
“In the end, not the kind of finish that we players or crowd wants to see, but I think it’s probably due to that physical battle that we had in the opening two sets,” he added.
AZARENKA WINS OVER BUREL AFTER COPING WIH MIGRAINE
Moreover, Azarenka won over Clara Burel, 6-1, 6-4, after she coped with migraine throughout the match.
Furthermore, the former world No.1 received medication and had her blood pressure checked by the doctor after complaining of migraine.
Azarenka was down 1-3 in the second set before coming back to finish off Burel at the Louis Armstrong Stadium.
The five-minute stoppage in play when Azarenka needed medical attention took the momentum out of Burel.
Burel fell to a spate of errors after the restart, allowing the Belarussian to take the next four games and clinch the win.
“I’m wearing glasses for a reason right now. It looks probably weird and awkward on TV,” Azarenka said.
“But I have a chronic migraine sometimes, and it couldn’t be a worse time to start it on the match,” she added.
GAUFF OVERCOMES EARLY SERVE WOES TO BEAT MARIA
Furthermore, Coco Gauff followed Azarenka into the next round.
Moreover, the American overcame early serve woes to beat Tatjana Maria, 6-4, 6-0.
Gauff survived seven double faults in the initial set to get past the 37-year-old Maria, whom she described as “annoying to play.”
“I love Tatjana, (but) she’s a very annoying to play. Tonight was just an annoying match,” Gauff said.
“I got lucky. I think I only got broken once, but probably could have – should have – gotten broken a couple of more times,” she added.
The win sets up Gauff for a third-round match against No.27 seed Elina Svitolina, who defeated Anhelina Kalinina 6-1, 6-2.
