ECA WANTS TO HARMONIZE PREMIER LEAGUE SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOW
Furthermore, the ECA wants to harmonize the Premier League summer transfer window in 2025, according to a new report on Monday.
Moreover, the move was intended to avoid the confusion caused by the late-summer transfer market, which disrupted clubs’ preparations for the new season.
Several ECA members backed the planned significant change.
Under the proposed change, the uniform transfer deadline would close on August 15 next year.
This was agreed upon by ECA executives from England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France.
NEW PROPOSAL FORBIS CLUBS TO BUY, SELL PLAYERS ONCE FOOTBALL SEASON BEGINS
Moreover, the new proposal forbids clubs to buy or sell players once the football season begins.
Furthermore, Yahoo! Sports said the report would stop player movement across Europe’s top leagues before any official matches are played.
Dutch businessman and football supporter Chris Woerts was supportive of the change.
“Next year, the transfer window must close on August 15, before the leagues’ kick-off,” Woerts said.
“Everyone is getting frustrated and annoyed by the fact that players are still being sold for weeks while the competitions have started,” he added.
NEW PROPOSAL HOPES REST OF EUROPE TO FOLLOW PREMIER LEAGUE’S LEAD
Furthermore, the new proposal hopes that the rest of Europe’s top football leagues will follow the Premier League’s lead.
Moreover, Woerts assured that many clubs are committed to implementing the change as soon as possible.
“The clubs are working hard to make the decision,” the Dutch businessman said.
“Next year, the transfer window must close on August 15,” he added.
It remains to be seen whether Barcelona, Real Madrid, or other La Liga clubs will follow in the footsteps of their Premier League counterparts.
