Former Barcelona Edelino was accused of playing for his twin Edgar Miguel Ié at Romanian first-division side Dinamo Bucharest.
However, Edelino’s entourage denounced the accusation, claiming that the rumours were all wrong.
“It’s a false, slanderous, and cancerous attack against the club,” the team denounced in a statement responding to rumours circulating on social media. Rumours suggest that Edelino pretended to be his brother during last Sunday’s match between Dinamo Bucharest and FC UTA Arad in the Romanian first division.

The news emerged when a Romanian journalist noted Dinamo’s surprise at the player’s lack of proficiency in English. The player communicates only in Portuguese despite having previously played in Spain, France, Turkey, and the Netherlands.
Dinamo refutes the news, spread by several media outlets, claiming that Edelino, not Edgar, joined the club last February from Feyenoord in the Netherlands.
The Romanian club, in a bid to uphold its commitment to transparency and legality, asserted that Edgar Ié was signed through a prestigious European sports agency, ensuring a process that was both transparent and legal.
Dinamo clarified in its statement that Edgar Miguel Ié received “an international transfer certificate issued by the Turkish Federation, verified by the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) and FIFA, registered by the Professional Football League (LPF). He also received a registration certificate from the General Immigration Inspection (IGI).”
Dinamo, in a clear demonstration of its commitment to truth and justice, has announced its intent to take legal action against the author of this false information “for serious damage to the club’s image.”
Edgar Miguel Ié, a 30-year-old Portuguese footballer, began his career at the age of 14 in 2008, signing for Sporting Clube de Portugal. He later joined Barcelona B in 2012 and has also played for Nantes, providing a comprehensive understanding of his transfer history.
