GAMBHIR WANTS BCCI TO GIVE HIM FULL CONTROL OF TEAM INDIA OPERATIONS
Gambhir wants the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) to give him full control of Team India’s operations coming into its Test series in England.
Furthermore, the 43-year-old Indian head coach, a report in Dainik Bhaskar said, is seeking complete authority from the team’s day-to-day operations from hereon.
Moreover, Gambhir’s preferred setup will see the head coach making the final say over team selection, policy-making, and other other team-related decisions over the team captain.
This means the coach may also have the final say in choosing India’s Test captain for the England tour.
“In order to stop a repeat of the home-series defeat against New Zealand and the debacle in Australia, Gambhir has requested the board for full autonomy,” the report said.

GILL MAY BE GAMBHIR’S PREFERRED CHOICE AS CAPTAIN OVER BUMRAH
Shubman Gill, reports said, may ba Gambhir’s preferred choice as Team India’s captain over Jasprit Bumrah.
Moreover, the report cited the 25-year-old Gill’s youth may be fit to just assist Gambhir with the team’s decision-making matters.
Furthermore, the coach doesn’t want any of his players who will challenge his calls, which reports point to the 31-year-old umrah.
Gambhir also had an eye for the future with his demands, which came after the Test retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
However, the two veteran stars may still have a say on the team’s affairs, as they will still play for India in the 2027 ODI World Cup.
BCCI SAYS KOHLI, SHARMA TO KEEP GRADE A+ CONTRACTS DESPITE TEST RETIREMENTS
The BCCI says Kohli and Sharma will keep their Grade A+ contracts despite their retirements from Test cricket.
Furthermore, the confirmation came after the BCCI retained the two veteran stars in its Grade A+ category along with Bumrah and left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja.
Moreover, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia made the announcement after the board had Kohli and Sharma on its annual player retainership 2024-25.
“Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s grade A contract will continue despite their retirement from the T20Is and Tests,” Saikia told ANI.
“They are still part of the Indian cricket team, and they will get all the facilities of Grade A,” he added.
