Gauff, Keys lead 4 US women in top 10 for first time since 2004

Coco Gauff and Madison Keys led four US women in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) top 10 list for the first time since 2004.

GAUFF, KEYS, PEGULA AMONG US WOMEN IN WTA TOP 10 LIST

Gauff, Keys and Jessica Pegular were the three US women in WTA’s latest top 10 rankings on Monday.

Furthermore, Gauff stayed at No.3 while Pegula is at No.5

Moreover, Keys soared to a personal-best No.6 after she won the Australian Open title.

The 29-year-old Florida resident defeated cureent world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus in the final.

Emma Navarro rounds out the American women at No.9

Gauff is the youngest among the three American women at 20, while Pegula is 30 years old.

FOUR AMERICANS, INCLUDING WILLIAMS, IN WTA TOP 10 IN 2004

Four Americans were actually in the WTA top 10 list in the first week of March 2004.

Moreover, Lindsey Davenport was the highest placed American at the time at No.4 followed by Jennifer Capriati (fifth).

Furthermore, 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams is at No.6, while Chanda Rubin is at No.9.

Incidentally, Williams was part of the spotlight in Monday’s Super Bowl LIX.

She danced at the American football title game’s halftime show that headlined rapper Kendrick Lamar.

SABALENKA, SWIATEK HOLD SWAY AT WTA TOP 2

Sabalenka (8,956 points) and Poland’s Iga Swiatek (8,770) continue to hold sway as the WTA’s top two.

Furthermore, Gauff (6,538) remained a distant third but has a comfortable lead over No.4 Jasmine Paolini of Italy (5,288).

Moreover, Pegula (4,861) and Keys (4,680) were followed by Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina (4,588) and China’s Qinwen Zheng (4,095).

Navarro follows at ninth (3,709), while Spaniard Paula Badosa (3,588) completes the top 10.

Interestingly, another American – Danielle Collins – is lurking at the top 10, as she is at 11th with 3,122 points.
