GAMBHIR REPLACES DRAVID AS NEW INDIA HEAD COACH ON ALL FORMATS

Furthermore, Gambhir will replace Dravid as the new India’s men’s cricket head on all formats.

Moreover, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced the news on X (formerly Twitter).

Gambhir described being installed into the new position as an honor in “serving the country.”

“India is my identity and serving my country has been the greatest privilege of my life,” he wrote on X.

“I’m honored to be back, albeit on a different. But my goal is the same as it has always been, to make every Indian proud,” he added.

Gambhir is aware that expectations will arise among 1.4 billion Indians.

“I will do everything in my power to make these dreams come true,” the new coach said.

BCCI SAYS DRAVID’S ASSISTANT COACHES’ TENURE ALSO COMES TO AN END

Furthermore, the BCCI disclosed that the tenure of Dravid’s assistant coaches Vikram Rathour (batting), Paras Mhambrey (bowling) and T Dilip (fielding) has also come to an end.

“The BCCI values their contribution and wishes them the best going forward,” the BCCI statement said.

Moreover, Gambhir earlier expressed his intentions to coach India at an event in Abu Dhabi on June 1.

“Look, I would love to coach the Indian team. There is no bigger honor,” Gambhir said back then.

“There’s no bigger honor than coaching your national team. You are representing 140 crore Indians,” he added.

GAMBHIR ASKS 140 CRORE INDIANS TO ‘PRAY FOR US’

Furthermore, Gambhir has asked 140 crore Indians to “pray for us” as he begins his mission for India to win the World Cup.

“If everyone starts praying for us, and we start playing and representing them, India will win the World Cup,” the new coach said.

“The most important thing is to be fearless and yes, I would love to coach India,” he added.

Moreover, Dravid took over from Ravi Shastri after the T20 World Cup in November 2021 for two years until the 2023 ODI World Cup.

He would later heed the BCCI’s request to extend his tenure until the end of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Dravid would later help India lift their first ICC trophy since 2013.
