ICC URGED TO EXPLAIN PCB OFFICIAL’S ABSENCE IN CT2025 POST-FINAL CEREMONY
The ICC was urged to explain a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official’s absence in the CT2025 post-final ceremony on Sunday.
Furthermore, Champions Trophy tournament director and PCB representative Sumair Ahmed was in Dubai to attend the India-New Zealand final.
Moreover, Ahmed was not included among the officials in the post-final ceremony after India won the title.
ICC chair Jay Shah, formerly an official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) led four officials in the presentation ceremony onstage.
Shah was joined by BCCI president Roger Binny, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and New Zealand Cricket director Roger Twose.
However, no official from host Pakistan, through the PCB, was seen.
PCB CHAIR NAQVI UNWELL BUT SUMAIR NOT TOLD TO REPLACE HIM
PCB chair Mohsin Naqvi was supposed to attend the opresentation ceremony but he was unwell for the event/
Moreover, Sumair was supposed to stand in as Naqvi’s replacement but the ICC didn’t asked him to join onstage.
Furthermore, a PCB official, who refused to be identified, expressed dismay at the ICC for its mistake.
“The reasons being given for not having our COO and tournament director on stage for the final presentation make no sense to us. We are waiting for a formal clarification/apology,” the official said.
“We are appalled by this blatant disregard for Pakistan’s role as the host nation,,” the official added.
PCB WANTS ‘FULL PUBLIC CLARIFICATION’ FOR SNUBBING SUMAIR IN CEREMONY
The PCB, the official said, wants a “full public clarification” from the ICC for snubbing Sumair in the ceremony.
Furthermore, the official recalled that the ICC was informed of Sumair’s presence in Dubai for the presentation ceremony.
Moreover, he met and congratulated Shah and some BCCI officials after India’s title victory.
“Giving explanations that ICC only invites CEO’s, chairmen, vice-chairmen or secretaries for the ceremony is illogical,” the PCB official said.
“We want a full public clarification and an assurance that such biased and unjust treatment will not happen again or we will push this matter to the board of governors,” he added.
