India clinch South Africa series; Sharma to skip first Test in Perth

India clinch its Twenty20 International (T20I) series against South Africa, even as Rohit Sharma will skip its first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth.

INDIA CLINCH SOUTH AFRICA T20I TEST SERIES

India clinch its South Africa T20I Test series with a 3-1 scoreline.

Furthermore, the Suryakumar Yadav-captained squad pulled off a 283/1 by bundling out South Africa for 148 and won by 135 runs.

Moreover, India’s latest win enabled them to top Pakistan’s six-year-old T20I record.

Additionally, India also registered its second highest win percentage in T20 cricket, with only Tamil Nadu leading the table with 93.75%.

Karnataka, meanwhile, took the third spot with 91.67%.

SHARMA TO MISS FIRST BORDER-GAVASKAR TROPHY TEST IN PERTH

Sharma is expected to miss India’s first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Perth on Friday.

Moreover, Sharma informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding his decision to miss the Perth Test.

Furthermore, the 37-year-old batter stayed in India to be with his wife for the birth of their second child.

Sharma may miss the upcoming Test at the Optus Stadium in Perth, but he could return in the second Test in Adelaide on December 6.

Vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah will lead India in Sharma’s place for the Perth Test.

YADAV PROUD OF INDIA ADAPTING TO ‘CONDITIONS AND SITUATIONS’ IN DURBAN

Meanwhile, Yadav is proud of his India team adapting to “conditions and situations” in Durban during its recent T20I Test.

Furthermore, the T20I team captain cited the players “good habits” that they sustained during the series.

“There’s no secret to adapting to the conditions and situations. Our plans were very clear as soon as we landed in Durban,” Yadav said.

“Though we were up 2-1 in the series, today (Sunday) we wanted to follow the good habits and not worry about the result,” he added.

Yadav is not taking this latest win for granted, as he described winning a Test series in South Africa as “very challenging.”
