Inglis was tapped as Australia’s interim T20I captain in the third ODI against Pakistan in Perth.

Furthermore, the 29-year-old wicket-keeper-batter was named for the position.

This came as key players Pat Cummins, Steven Smith, and Josh Hazlewood will be resting.

Moreover, a board approved Inglis’ appointment as Australia’s 14th T20I captain and 30th ODI captain following the selectors’ recommendations.

Additionally, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head will be out for Australia’s upcoming T20I’s Test series against Pakistan.

Xavier Bartlett, Spencer Johnson, and Josh Philippe were added to Australia’s lineup for the Perth ODI.

Furthermore, chairman of selectors George Bailey assured Inglis of getting support from the senior players of the squad.

“Josh (Inglis) is an integral member of the ODI and T20I teams and a highly respected player on and off the field,” Bailey said.

“Josh will receive great support from the likes of Matt Short and Adam Zampa, along with senior players including Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis,” he added.

Incidentally, a selection panel tapped Inglis as captain of a Prime Minister’s XI squad in a first-class match against West Indies in November 2022.

BOROVEC TO LEAD AUSTRALIA’S NEW COACHING STAFF FOR T20I SERIES

Furthermore, assistant coach Andre Borovec will lead Australia’s new coaching staff for the team’s T20I series.

The new staff was named after head coach Andrew McDonald, batting coach Michael Di Venuto, and bowling coach Daniel Vettori will take a break.

Additionally, Brad Hodge and Wade are still part of the ODI squad as consultants.

Hodge also has double duties as Australia’s T20I team as an assistant coach.

He toured with the T20 World Cup team as a coaching consultant.
