Furthermore, Sinner foils Djokovic’s bid for a 100th title so that he can win his seventh crown this season.

Moreover, the Italian world No.1 tallied eight aces and 22 winners to defeat Djokovic in the one-hour and 37-minute final.

Sinner limited Djokovic to just four aces and 12 winners to become the first player to win more than six titles in a season since Andy Murray’s nine in 2016.

“It was a very tough match, obviously; playing against Novak is one of the toughest challenges we have,” Sinner said.

“It’s tough to tell you a secret about (Djokovic) because he doesn’t have any weaknesses,” he added.

Furthermore, the Serbian world No.4 was also seeking his fifth title in Shanghai before Sinner spoiled his plan.

“I think I played some really good tennis, but congratulations to Jannik (Sinner),” Djokovic said.

“He was just too good today. Too strong, too fast, well done. You’re having an incredible year. You deserve this,” he added.

The 37-year-old also lost to Sinner in the Australian Open semifinals, but he was playing in China for the first time in five years.

Meanwhile, Sebastian Korda underwent elbow surgery, which forced him to stay out of playing indefinitely.

Furthermore, the American remained uncertain as to when he could come back.

Moreover, Korda last played in the US Open in August, where he lost in straight sets to Tomas Machac in the second round.

“I want to update you all – I’ve been dealing with some elbow issues, and my team and I decided surgery was the best option,” Korda said.

“Everything went great, and I can’t wait to be back on court soon. Thanks for all your support!” he added.

The 19th-ranked Korda has a 31-19 win-loss record this season, including his win at the Mubadala Citi DC Open – the same tournament his father, Petr Korda, won 32 years ago.
