BUMRAH’S ‘EXTENSIVE EFFORT’ COULD CAUSE INJURIES
Glenn McGrath cited Bumrah’s “extensive effort” while playing that resulted in several injuries.
Bumrah has been inactive since September 2022, as he underwent surgery for a back stress fracture in March 2023.
The surgery cost Bumrah a stint in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia as well as the Indian Premier League 2023.
“Someone like Bumrah needs an off-season because he puts so much into every ball. With so much extensive effort, he needs a break,” McGrath said.
INJURIES COULD FORCE INDIA TO SEARCH FOR LEFT-ARM BOWLER
The 54-year-old retired international cricketer said the physical demands of players such as Bumrah may force India to search for more options.
McGrath said India is fortunate to have a deep roster of right-arm pacers but not left-arm bowlers.
“We will see in the future. Having so many good right-arm bowlers is the reason why we haven’t seen a left-arm Indian pacer lately,” he added.
