KOHLI CITES ‘ WORKING ON ROTATING STRIKES’ TO AVOID ‘STAGNANT’ CRICKET GAME
Kohli cited the need for “working on rotating strikes” to avoid a “stagnant” cricket game in his campaign for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2025.
Furthermore, the 36-year-old top-order batter allowed Krunal Pandya to take the spotlight in a 119-run stand in RCB’s match against Delhi Capitals on Sunday.
Moreover, Kohli noted batters struggle to start hitting from the get-go, thus needing a need to stitch “a partnership and taking it deep.”
“So, I try and make sure that my singles and doubles don’t stop. And then you keep getting the odd boundary in between,” Kohli said.
“The game never gets stagnant. So, that’s always been my focus to keep working on rotating strikes, singles and doubles,” he added.
VIRAT VALUES ‘GOING DEEP INTO THE INNINGS IN T20 CRICKET’ TO ‘READ THE SITUATION’
Kohli values “going deep into the innings in T20 (Twenty20) cricket” to “read the situation” on a slow pitch.
Moreover, the veteran Indian cricketer saw RCB reduced to 26 for 3 after four overs since chasing 163 on Sunday.
Furthermore, Krunal was 17 off 21 to 73 off 47, while Kohli dropped for 51 off 47 as the former was promoted up the order.
“And it won’t come easy on a slow pitch if you don’t know how to rotate the strike. So, yeah, that’s pretty much my method,” Kohli said.
“I analyse the conditions, understand what the score on the board is, understand what the situation demands of me and have the skills to kind of keep rotating the strike and not be stagnant on one end,” he added.

VIRAT DISMISSED AFTER BATTING SECOND IN IPL 2025 FOR FIRST TIME
Kohli was dismissed while batting second in IPL2025 for the first time Sunday.
Furthermore, he scored 245 runs across four-run chases this season, leading his average to read to 245.
Moreover, Kohli has since collected 443 runs from 10 matches and continues to be the leading run-getter this IPL season.
“Whenever there’s a chase on or there’s a situation I go in, I keep checking with the dugout whether we are on course, what is my role, what is the kind of innings I need to play,” Kohli said.
“It was a top win, we were under pressure, 3 for 26 and then me and Krunal getting a 100-run partnership,” he added.
