LYON VS MAN UNITED MATCH SAW AMORIM TAKING BLAME FOR DRAWN RESULT
The Lyon vs Man United match saw Amorim taking the blame as his squad allowed the French squad to force a 2-2 result in their UEFA Europa League match at the Groupama Stadium.
Furthermore, the United manager is aware that his goalkeeper Andre Onana was blamed for allowing Lyon’s two goals in the tightly-contested match.
Moreover, Amorim is making himself as accountable as Onana for United’s sudden downfall.
“If you look at the season I’ve made more mistakes than them during these last games and during these last months,” the 40-year-old manager said.
“There’s nothing I can say to Andre in this moment that will help him, so the most important thing is to be natural and then when the time comes I will choose the best XI to play,” he added.

UNITED MANAGER STILL HAS FAITH IN ONANA DESPITE SEVERAL LAPSES
The United manager still has his trust in Onana, whom he still considers as part of his best 11 players who start in his squad.
Moreover, Amorim knows his goalkeeper is under fire after committing eight errors that led to the opposing team’s goals the past few games.
Furthermore, former Red Devils player Nemanja Matic described Onana as “one of the worst goalkeepers” in United’s history.
“But I’m really confident in Andre (Onana). We continue to do the same thing,” Amorim said in defending his goalkeeper from Matic’s comments.
“Training, seeing the games, trying to choose the best eleven to win every match,” he added.
CHERKI GOAL FORCES DRAW FOR LYON
Rayan Cherki’s late goal in extra time erased a 2-1 United lead to save Lyon and force the draw.
Furthermore, Leny Yoro opened the scoring for the match just before halftime by scoring United’s first goal.
Moreover, Joshua Zirkzee converted a Bruno Fernandes assist for United’s second goal in the 88th minute before Cherki’s goal.
“When one player has a mistake, all the team has a mistake so we continue like that,” Amorim said.
“They’re two massive mistakes. He (Onana) has got to save both of them in my opinion and he has cost United today,” former England midfielder Aaron Lennon told BBC Radio 5 Live.
