Rodri goes down with an injury
The Spain international went down, grimacing in pain and clutching his knee.
The incident occurred after a collision with Arsenal striker Kai Havertz.
Mateo Kovacic came on as a substitute for the 28-year-old.
The defending champions scored a 2-2 draw against Arsenal, thanks to John Stones’ stoppage-time goal.
Rodri missed the start of City’s season after sustaining a hamstring injury during EURO 2024.
Guardiola waiting on the extent of the injury
Man City manager Pep Guardiola said he is unsure of the extent of Rodri’s injury.
Guardiola added that the result “might have been different” if the Ballon d’Or nominee hadn’t been injured for the entire match.
“I don’t know yet, I didn’t ask the doctors,” said Guardiola. “Rodri is strong. He leaves the pitch in this action because he felt something, otherwise Rodri stays there.
“He’s the best holding midfielder in the world, he is a potential Ballon d’Or winner, I would love for him to win.
“But it happened in the first minutes. These games with Arsenal are like that and we have to handle it. We did it. We did really good things.”
