UNITED SHOULD FOLLOW CITY’S LEAD
Casemiro admitted City, not United is the “team to beat” at the moment and the Red Devils should follow the Citizens’ lead. The Brazilian footballer made his comments after United lost to City 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
“We have a mirror here, which is City, and they have been doing a great job,” Casemiro said. “We also have to be humble to accept that they are at the moment, not in history, as the history of Manchester United speaks for itself.”
“But they are today the team to beat. Everyone wants to beat City,” he added.
NEW UNITED OWNERS MUST LEARN TO GROW TOGETHER
Casemiro welcomes the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, chairman and CEO of chemical company INEOS. The midfielder said the 71-year-old British billionaire should give United a boost to become a better club in the future.
“Of course, when people from outside arrive, who want to add and evolve the club’s level, it is always important,” Casemiro said. “I hope that they (new owners) arrive and grow together with us, and the club needs to have people who want to grow here.”
United boss Erik ten Hag insisted the gap is not far between his club and City, but acknowledged that the Citizens “is in this moment, the best team in the world.”
