What actually happened?
According to the Manchester Evening News, a fan collapsed near one of the entrances to the stadium, and stewards quickly rushed to provide medical assistance.
An eyewitness gave an account of the incident to the Manchester Evening News.
“It was about 10 past four. We were going into the grounds at entrance K and the gent was on the floor having CPR performed on him. It had just happened as there were only a few people in front of us.
“There was one steward working on him, and we were all screaming for them to get a defibrillator. It was chaos. A young girl ran over to get the defibrillator.”
“At this point more stewards came running over and formed a circle around him. They worked on him for a long time, about 20 minutes and he was taken into an ambulance. We are all traumatised by it.”
