RIZMAN TO MISS PAKISTAN’S T20Is DUE TO PULLED HAMSTRING
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said Rizman will miss Pakistan’s remaining T20I series against New Zealand due to a pulled hamstring.
Rizman may have sustained the injury in the third T20I, as he received medical help before he was taken out.
The PCB downplayed the extent of Rizman’s injury, as he may only miss for no more than a week to 10 days.
Officials believe the injury should not threaten Rizman’s future matches moving forward.
Rizman and Niazi went through radiology reports evaluation from the PCB medical panel.
NIAZI TO MISS TWO T20I MATCHES DUE TO HAMSTRING NIGGLE
Niazi will also miss Pakistan’s last two T20I matches against New Zealand due to a suspected hamstring niggle, which prompted the PCB to pull him out.
The 21-year-old right-arm cricketer did not show any discomfort during the same third T20I match before he picked up the injury.
The injury was a downer for Niazi, who was playing in his maiden international call-up for Pakistan.
He was coming off an impressive PSL 2024 stint for the Karachi Kings where he tallied 171 runs at an average of 42.75 and a strike rate of 140.16.
His stats led to Niazi being named as the Emerging Player of the tournament.
“Breaking into such a formidable team like Pakistan is a testament to the dedication and effort I have put into my game,” Niazi said.
“Now, my focus is on seizing this opportunity and solidifying my position within the team,” he added.
PAKISTAN TO FIGURE OUT LINEUP CHANGES FOR LAST TWO T20I MATCHES
The injuries that fell Rizwan and Niazi will prompt the PCB to make lineup changes for their last two T20I matches.
Babar Azam will still lead the team as its captain, but Usman Khan must step up in place of Rizwan.
Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Amir, and Abbas Afridi comprise Pakistan’s bowling attack.
Meanwhile, Â Usama Mir will replace Abrar Ahmed in the team.
