MONFILS WINS IN MIAMI, BECOMES 2ND OLDEST SINCE CONNORS
Monfils wins in Miami to become the second oldest player to do so after Jimmy Connors.
Furthermore, the 38-year-old Frenchman world No.42 overcame a second-set loss to beat Fabiabn Marozsan, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, to achieve the feat.
Moreover, the former world No.6 needed all of one hour and 44 minutes to progress into the next round.
“I hit some different angles and showed I could run and anticipate,” Monfils said through the ATP website.
“I made it hard [for him]. I hit with a bit more depth in my shots and did not let him dictate and I think I did well,” he added.
FRENCHMAN HITS 38 WINNERS TO GET JOB DONE
The Frenchman hit 38 winners and committed only 18 unforced efforts to ensure his opening day campaign translated into a win.
Moreover, he also tied to 1-1 his head-to-head matchup against Marozsan.
Furthermore, Monfils is making his 13th appearance in Miami, as he next faces Jim Lehecka.
Meanwhile, Nick Kyrgios is also through the next round after he defeated Mackenzie McDonald, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The 29-year-old Australian finally posted a victory after nearly three years with his opening round win in South Florida.

RADUCANU SPLITS WITH COACH AFTER 14 DAYS: MANAGEMENT TEAM
Raducanu splits with coach Vladamir Platenic after only 14 days and one match working together.
Furthermore, the 22-year-old British world No.60’s management team confirmed the news on Wednesday.
Moreover, Raducanu opened her Miami Open campaign with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Sayaka Ishii with Platenik not on her side.
The coach started working with the Briton before the BNP Paribas Open, where she absorbed a first-round loss to Moyuka Uchijima.
That was her first match since a stalker disrupted her second-round match in Dubai.
“Emma has the utmost respect for Vlado and the work they started but it wasn’t quite heading in the right direction,” her team said.
“Emma is now focused on doing as well as she can here in Miami after her solid start today and will continue looking for the right coach” it added.
