MOYES’ FUTURE UNCERTAIN AFTER TEAM’S ‘SO BAD’ PERFORMANCE
Moyes faces an uncertain future after he described West Ham’s latest setback as “so bad.”
“I can hardly put it into words,” was his initial reaction after he saw West Ham trail 0-4 down inside 31 minutes at the Selhurst Park.
The 60-year-old Scottish manager admitted not having “many teams play who’ve played like that in my career,” in describing the lopsided loss.
“The first half was as bad as I’ve seen us play. Lots of things were not correct with the way we played,” Moyes said.
Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze scored a goal each, while an Emerson Palmieri own goal had Crystal Palace up 3-0 inside 20 minutes.
MOYES OFFERS NO EXCUSES FOR WEST HAM IN LOSS
Moyes offered no excuses for West Ham in its recent loss, saying that “what we need now us a response from the players.”
Jean-Philippe Mateta added a fourth goal for Palace before Michail Antonio finally put West Ham on the board before halftime.
Moyes was “embarrassed to sit here and be speaking on behalf of the team based on how they performed.”
He added that he was “disappointed for the supporters who came today.”
‘NO PROBLEM’ FOR MOYES ON UNCERTAIN WEST HAM FUTURE
Moyes offered a short response when he was asked about his West Ham future after the match.
“If it is, then it is fine – no problem,” he said on Sunday.
The manager earlier dismissed the question after West Ham’s Europa League quarterfinals exit against Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday.
Moyes had said he would wait until the end of the season to decide on his future.
He confirmed that West Ham offered I’m a new contract in February but he didn’t respond.
West Ham will resume its campaign against Liverpool on Saturday, with the team sitting at eighth in the Premier League table.
