OLMO AWAITS LA LIGA APPROVAL BEFORE BARCELONA DEBUT AGAINST RAYO VALLECANO
Furthermore, Olmo awaits La Liga’s registration approval before making his Barcelona debut, possibly against Rayo Vallecano on Tuesday.
Moreover, Barcelona will still need La Liga’s blessing regarding the temporary registration filed by the club to pave the way for Olmo’s debut.
The 26-year-old Spanish midfielder has yet to play for Barca this season after missing the club’s first two matches.
Olmo awaits his registration to be processed with La Liga as Barca continues to cope with its financial struggles.
BARCA TO USE CHRISTENSEN’S INJURY TO ACCOMMODATE OLMO
Moreover, Barca will use an injury to Andreas Christensen to clear up cap space and accommodate Olmo.
Furthermore, Barca can exceed their spending limit if a player is ruled out for a substantial amount of time.
This is specified in Article 77 of La Liga’s Regulations for the Preparation of Budgets.
However, the final paperwork still needs to be cleared pending La Liga approval to make way for Olmo’s Barca’s debut.
Incidentally, Barca saw the departures of Ilkay Gundongan, Vitore Roque, Mika Faye, and Clement Lenglet the past week.
However, these moves were still not enough to let Olmo play with the club.
ARTICLE 77 APPLIED BY BARCA TO ROQUE, MARTINEZ IN THE PAST
Furthermore, using Article 77 is not new for Barca.
Moreover, the club used the provision to allow Roque to be registered and temporarily replace the injured Gavi last winter.
On the other hand, center-back Inigo Martinez was only registered earlier this month after Ronald Araujo was injured.
Barca utilized Araujo’s salary space to accommodate Martinez.
Meanwhile, La Liga will announce the new spending limits after closing this week’s transfer window.
Incidentally, Barca’s spending dropped to just over £200 million (USD223 million) earlier this year.
