PCB CHAIRMAN NAQVI APPOINTED TO ACC
PCB chairman Naqvi has been appointed to the ACC post, replacing Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) president Shammi Silva.
Furthermore, Naqvi was “deeply honored” to be named to the top ACC position.
Moreover, he has been at tthe helm as PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) since February 2024.
“Asia remains the heartbeat of world cricket, and I am committed to working with all member boards to accelerate the game’s growth and global influence,” Naqvi said in a statement.
“Together, we will unlock new opportunities, foster greater collaboration, and take Asian cricket to unprecedented heights,” he added.
SHORT ACC STINT FOR SILVA AFTER TAKING OVER FROM SHAH
It would be a short ACC stint for Silva, who took over the ACC top post in December 2024.
Furthermore, Silva replaced Jay Shah, the former Board of Control for India (BCCI) president who assumed his new post as International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman.
Moreover, Naqvi thanked Silva in his initial statements as new ACC head.
” I also extend my sincere thanks to the outgoing ACC President (Silva) for his leadership and contributions to the ACC during his tenure,” Naqvi said.
“Under his (Naqvi) leadership, the Asian Cricket Council looks forward to a dynamic and collaborative future,” the ACC added.
SILVA EXTENDS GRATITUDE TO SHAH
Meanwhile, Silva extended his gratitude to Shah, in whose term in the ACC accomplished “significant milestones.”
Furthermore, the SLC head cited securing the highest-ever value for the ACC Asia Cup commercial rights among Shah’s accomplishments.
Moreover, Silva also lauded Shah for introducing a new pathway events structure, and paving the way for the continued development of cricket in Asia.
“I extend my gratitude to my predecessor, Mr. Jay Shah, Chairman of the ICC, under whose leadership the ACC reached significant milestones,” Silva said.
“As I step down, I have full confidence that under Mr. Naqvi’s capable leadership, the ACC will continue its remarkable journey and thrive,” he added.
