PM MODI SAYS INDIA-PAKISTAN RIVALRY DICTATED BY RECENT RESULTS

PM Modi says the India-Pakistan cricket rivalry is determined by recent results as to which team is better at the moment.

Furthermore, the prime minister admitted he lets the experts to “be the judge” as to whether which one is ahead in the rivalry.

Moreover, Modi then cited the recent Champions Trophy 2025 when India beat host Pakistan in a group match en route to winning the title.

“Now coming to the question of who’s better or not. When it comes to the techniques of the game, I’m not an expert,” the prime minister said on the Lex Fridman podcast.

“Just a few days ago, India and Pakistan played a match and the result revealed who was the better team. That’s how we know,” he added.

The India leader cited sports has the “power to energize the entire the world.”

Moreover, Modi lauded Virat Kohli’s century that powered India to a six-wicket win over Pakistan recently as proof of his country’s edge at the moment.

Furthermore, the prime minister vows noto underestimate sports, which he described as one that plays “a major role in human evolution.”

“I think sports have the power to energise the entire world. The spirit of sports brings people across nations together,” Modi said.

“That’s why I would never want sports to get discredited. I truly believe sports play a major role in human evolution,” he added.

Modi was then asked as to who does he pick as the best football player of all time, as the sport is also huge in India.

Furthermore, the prime minister rattled off two legends – Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi – who , for him are the best ever.

Moreover, he explained that his choices were based on generational talent in the last few decades.

“If we talk about the past, in the 1980’s, one name that always stood out was Diego Maradona. For that generation, he was seen as a true hero,” Modi said.

“And if you ask today’s generation they’ll immediately say Lionel Messi,” he added.
