The superstar era
For years, PSG has been accustomed to rely on superstars like Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappe.
However, the superstar era officially came to an end after Mbappe left PSG for Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Messi left for Inter Miami in 2023, while Neymar joined Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal.
Despite their star power, PSG failed to lift the Champions League trophy, even with Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe leading the charge.
The entire PSG team is “the star”
Throughout last season, Enriquez was bombarded with questions surrounding Mbappe’s future at Parc de Princes.
After PSG’s 1-0 win against Girona in their Champions League opener, Enrique told TNT Sports Brasil who PSG’s star player is.
“Yes, there’s a star, a star that shines more brightly than anything else, that is the team. That is the star, the team,” he said.
“It’s amazing. It is a feeling that I try to instil in my players. You see it on the pitch, one for all and all for one, like the Three Musketeers. That is marvellous in a team sport.”
So far, PSG have won all their games and scored 13 goals in their opening four Ligue 1 match.
