PSG TO TAKE FURTHER LEGAL ACTION AFTER FRENCH LEAGUE SIDES WITH MBAPPE
Furthermore, expect the Ligue 1 club to take further legal action after the French league sided with Mbappe in a dispute with his former club on unpaid wages.
Moreover, Ligue 1’s legal commission ordered Paris Saint Germain to €55 million (USD61 million) worth of unpaid wages to Mbappe.
The French superstar forward claimed he’s entitled to the said wages.
This was the reason why Mbappe rejected a mediation offer by the league’s legal commission regarding the dispute.
Mbappe’s representatives met with club officials in Paris on Wednesday to address the issue.
The 25-year-old forward joined Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer after spending seven years with PSG.
NO INTENTION BY CLUB TO PAY UNPAID WAGES, TO SEEK ‘ANOTHER LEGAL FORUM’
Moreover, there is no intention by the PSG to pay the unpaid wages, with the club seeking “another legal forum.”:
“The matter must now be contested in another legal forum,” the team told The Associated Press.
“Paris Saint Germain is delighted to present all the facts over the coming months and year,” it added.
Mbappe allegedly stipulated that he would give up bonuses over reintegration into the club.
This is a major reason why the Ligue 1 club insists it does not owe money to the World Cup winner.
Incidentally, Mbappe was sidelined ahead of the 2023-24 season after he decided not to extend his contract with PSG.
PSG, MBAPPE RELATIONSHIP INTENSE AFTER NEW DEAL SIGNED IN 2022
Furthermore, the relationship between PSG and Mbappe was intense after the forward signed a deal in 2022.
Moreover, Mbappe was offered the most lucrative contract by the PSG in club history.
However, the French footballer turned it down.
Mbappe felt betrayed as PSG promised to sign key players, but the club failed to keep such promise.
The club tried to sell their then-star forward.
But Mbappe rejected a €300-million move to Saudi League team Al Hilal at the time.
Mbappe told PSG in June last year that he would not take an option for an extra year in his contract.
This prompted PSG to exclude him from the club’s pre-season tour to Japan and South Korea in the summer of 2023.
