Mbappe-Enrique beef
The tension between Mbappe and Enrique began when the coach took his star player out after the first half of Friday’s 0-0 draw with Monaco.
Enrique also subbed out the France team captain in PSG’s draw with Rennes the week prior.
The benching prompted Mbappe, 25, to talk to Enrique and address his displeasure.
However, the coach told him it was nothing personal and not retribution for the striker’s impending decision to leave PSG this summer.
Mbappe reportedly felt that his substitutions were punishment for leaving the club at the end of the season.
Life without Mbappe
The PSG boss repeatedly insisted that PSG would have to adapt without Mbappe.
“I’m not going to get into this game,” Enrique said. “I’m a professional, I don’t have a problem. It’s just a question of handling a situation that is best for the team.”
“It’s 100% a coach’s decision. Sooner or later, we will have to get used to playing without Kylian. It’s a decision that I made with the aim of doing the best for the team.”
“I don’t want to create controversy, it’s my decision.”
