Ndicka collapsed

Ndicka, 24, collapsed off the ball in the 72nd minute at the Bluenergy Stadium, with both teams tied at 1-1.

The Ivory Coast international was taken off on a stretcher, but he raised his thumb to prove that he remained conscious during that time.

After long discussions within both clubs that lasted 10 minutes, referee Luca Pairetto decided to suspend the match.

“Following the on-field medical emergency involving Evan Ndicka, the match between Udinese and Roma has been suspended,” the team said on X.

“In good spirits”

Roma then posted an encouraging update on Ndicka’s condition, saying their player is finally “feeling better.”

The club also confirmed that his teammates visited him at the hospital.

“Evan is feeling better and is in good spirits,” the club said on X, accompanied by a photo of Ndicka flexing his right bicep.

“He will remain in the hospital for further observations.”

Roberto Pereyra drew first blood in favor of Udinese before striker Romelu Lukaku went for an equalizer for Roma.

Ndicka joined Roma on a free transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023, and has made 19 appearances for the Italian club.

He was also part of the Ivory Coast side that won the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
