Ronaldo roots for Mbappe to succeed at Real Madrid
Mbappe arrived at Santiago Bernabeu this summer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on a free transfer.
On his YouTube channel, Ronaldo, 39, said the France international will do well in Madrid.
“I think [Mbappé] will do well. The structure of the club … it’s nice, it’s good,” Ronaldo said.
The former Real Madrid star himself also thinks that Mbappe will be the next Ballon d’Or winner.
Mbappe, along with Madrid teammates Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, Federico Valverde, Antonio Rudiger, Dani Carvajal, and recently retired Toni Kroos, are nominated for the Golden Ball award.
“They have a great coach and the president, Florentino [Pérez], who has been there many many years. I think it won’t be a big problem because of his talent. Mbappé can be the next golden ball [Ballon d’Or] winner. Him, [Erling] Haaland, [Jude] Bellingham, Lamine [Yamal].”
Madrid legend recognizes future Madrid legend
Ronaldo joined Madrid in 2009, and quickly established himself as one of the great icons in club’s history.
The Portugal international netted 451 times in 438 competitive appearances.
Overall, Ronaldo won Four Champions League titles, three Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups, two LaLiga titles, two Copas del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups with Madrid.
“Madrid is the kind of team they don’t rush under pressure. People say they’re lucky in the Champions [League]. No they are not lucky. They’re prepared for this kind of moment. The Bernabéu has that different aura,” Ronaldo said.
Los Blancos have two wins and two draws so far this season, trailing rivals Barcelona by four points at the top of the LaLiga table.
So far, Mbappe has scored two goals for the club.
“Now, if you say that Madrid is going to be better or not, we don’t know. Mbappé is there now, I think Madrid will keep strong, but I don’t know if they will be better than last year. Only God knows,” he said.
